You must set up direct deposit in order to get the $125 bonus. If you don’t have a job DD, try first with Paypal. If it doesn’t count, then try ING, HSBC, Citibank, etc etc via ACH transfer to see if it counts as direct deposit. Again, your account must be opened for 6 months before closing.

PerkStreet $100 Bonus, $50 Bonus, or 2% Cash Back

I’m not exactly sure why they have 3 promotions, but choose the best one below to your liking:

  1. 2% Cash Back for 6 Months -They now offer 2% cash back on for using their non-PIN debit card for 6 months with their online checking account. Make sure to make an initial deposit of $25. In order to get eh 2% cash back, your purchase must be credit or signature option(do not use your debit PIN). PerkStreet checking is best fitted for people with high debit card usage. With 2% cash back for the first 6 months and 1% afterward, this works just like a cash back credit card.
  2. $50 Bonus – Unlike before, this $50 bonus requires you to have an initial deposit of $250. You must also make 25 non-PIN debit card purchases within the first three months. You would only get 1% cash back on your purchases with your debit card. Offer expires April 30th.
  3. $100 Bonus – Even more stringent requirements than the $50 bonus, you must have direct deposits of $500 or more for two consecutive months and make 25 non-PIN debit card purchases. This must be done within the first four months for the $100 bonus to kick in.

I was a little hesitant to open a Rewards Checking Account, but it’s all worth it and not as troublesome as I thought it would be. I currently have two Rewards Checking account at 4% APY. For those who want a Rewards Checking Account with up to $50K since $25K is too much trouble, there is ViewPoint Bank’s Absolute Checking paying 4.00% APY on balances up to $50,000 nationwide.  You must have a minimum initial deposit of $100 and it comes with free checks. The account has no monthly service charges and no minimum balance requirements.

In order to get the 4% APY, you must:

Branches are located in Dallas, Tx. For people living in Dallas, TX, your chance of getting approved is much higher. Ready Saver Account 2.00% APY Nationwide

For those Rate Chasers out there, Southern Community Bank and Trust’s Ready Saver Account is giving out 2.00% APY on all balances.  The account is available to everyone except for North Carolina residents. Minimum initial deposit is $1 and there is no monthly service fees. Interest accrues monthly and you must receive e-statement. They also have ACH to ACH transfer.

One important note is that you must sign into your online banking account monthly. There is a $3.00 fee per withdrawal for going over the 6 withdrawals limit. A maximum of $15K in electronic transfer but it seems that they do not enforce. They want to bring in new money, hence it’s not available for North Carolina residents since they have branches there.

Southern Community Bank and Trust has its headquarters in Winston Salem with branches in several North Carolina cities including Asheville, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and Raleigh. I guess they’re excluding NC residents so they can bring in only new money. It has been reported that there will be a hard pull with Equifax for all new accounts.
