You are wondering, can I open one anyway..say sole proprietorship? YMMV on this. I don’t think you can just walk in and say you have an Ebay business and you want to open a business checking account.
If you are a licensed professional such as a lawyer, teacher, or accountant, you can open a business checking as sole proprietorship without your business being registered with the state.
Obviously, if you have a business, this is an easy $100 bonus. In order to have no monthly fees, your account balance must maintain $5K per month(Chase credit card balance counts too).
