Quick ways to improve your credit score

by Hustler on December 27, 2010

The best way is to pay down your credit credit cards. FICO scores are based largely on debt to credit ratio.

About one-third of your FICO score (the score most lenders use) is based on your credit-utilization ratio, which is the total of your credit-card balances divided by the total of your credit-card limits. It’s how much you’ve charged that counts — regardless of whether you pay your balance in full each month. A good target is to use 20% or less of your available credit; a lower percentage is even better.

Government benefits to go paperless

by Hustler on December 27, 2010

Social Security checks and other government benefits will no longer be mailed out.

Officials have settled on the dates when millions of people will no longer be able to get their Social Security and other benefit checks by mail. New recipients of benefits will have to accept paperless payments starting on May 1 of next year, three months later than first proposed. Those already on Social Security will have until March 1, 2013 to make the switch to direct deposits or a debit card.
