, and Evantage Bank are all under the same Bank of Wichitas company and FDIC insured internet banks. They have a reward checking account that pays 5.25% APY on balances up to $25,000 (2.25% for above) and refunds ATM fees worldwide if the following monthly requirements are met:

  • 10 VISA CheckCard purchases
  • receive statements electronically

Even better is their 3.10% APY Savings account. There is no balance cap and no debit requirements. With the savings account, absolutely no monthly maintenance fee or minimum balance requirement. This is one of the very few accounts with 3% rate or better nationwide.

American Express has always been generous with their Starwood American Express card, because you can get 10,000 bonus points after your first purchase. This is good for a $150 ticket or a $100 Amazon gift certificate. Additionally, there is an extra 15,000 bonus points by spending $15,000 on the card within the first 6 months. The 25,000 points is good enough for a free airline ticket. There is an annual fee, but the fee is waived for the first year. Cancel the card within the first year if you don’t like the annual fee. For those in need of more bonus points, apply for the Business Starwood American Express Card for another 10,000 Starpoints after first purchase.
